Intermediate: Technique Sampler by Modern Blended Quilts - Online or In Person

This 10 week course will challenge you to look at patterns that demand various rulers and learn to pick which rulers you actually need for a project and how to use your basic rulers to complete it. Techniques Sampler will also challenge you to develop your quilting and piercing skills while giving you the techniques to master complex and challenging quilts. This class is an intermediate level class. You must have experience in machine piecing, and you must have more than one quilt under your belt. We will be exploring different construction methods and techniques to create a sampler quilt that helps you build your toolkit of skills. We will be covering the entire quilt over 10 weeks. With 2 quilt sizes to choose from, Ann Mitton will guide you as you create this interesting skill builder quilt.

Instructor Bio: | I have lived all my life in this part of New Brunswick, growing up in Dorchester and then moving to Sackville and raising my family here. I come from a long line of makers and learned to sew, knit and crochet from my maternal grandmother by the time I was 5 years old. I am mostly a self taught quilter and machine embroiderer. My mother and grandmother both hand quilted with a ladies church group in Dorchester and I remember those lovely traditional quilts with great fondness. I have been married for over 50 years and have 2 married sons and 2 grandchildren. When I retired, I rewarded myself with an embroidery/sewing machine. Unfortunately there were no classes available in the area at the time and so I had to learn from my sewing machine manual and the internet. Because of that, I feel it is important to share what I know about quilting and embroidery with others so they don't feel like they are going it alone. Getting up in front of people was so far outside my comfort zone but now I love it because I am talking to like minded friends who are as eager to learn as I am to share. I try to make my classes fun and I try to help people relax and become proficient with their machines and quilting tools. There is much laughter and sharing and caring during my classes. Every time Kate and Marilyn and I look at a new teaching season and new classes, I get excited about quilting all over again. I love looking for new things to share, new twists on old ideas and figuring out how to present them to our students. |
